Children playing in the snow

Waitlist

Roots of Learning Childcare maintains an extensive waitlist.  We also operate at full capacity at all times.  We only have spaces open when someone leaves our care, usually after the end of their Kindergarten year.  Therefore, we have very little turn around, sometimes only filling a few spots each year.

When a space opens, we determine the appropriate age for the space after “moving up” any children ready to progress to an older room.  We then fill the space in the younger room.  Spaces in older rooms are offered to new families only when the number of open spaces available exceeds the number of children ready to “move up”.

We will offer the open space in the younger room to the first family on the waitlist in that particular age range.  Sometimes this means the family offered the spot is not #1 on the list but is often somewhere quite a bit farther down.  For this reason, we do not provide families with a “number” for where they are on the list.  We cannot do more than confirm the name is on the list nor estimate how long until you receive a space.  We fill mostly 18m – 2-year-old spaces.

Unfortunately, that means many families on our waitlist never receive a spot in our centre.  There are currently not enough spaces for the demand.

We contact families in clusters of 2 or 3 by email.  Please ensure you are checking all your folders.  Priority will be given to the family who responds first.  We do it this way because we often receive no reply to our emails which delays filling the space.
